Nigeria’s formal educational structure follows a 6-3-3 pattern which gives a child 6 years of primary education and 3 years each for lower and higher secondary school education, respectively. Despite the fact that primary school education has been made free by the government, Nigeria still has 10.2 million kids between the ages of 5-14 out of school. Only 61% of 6-11 year-olds regularly attend primary school and only 36% of children aged 3-5 years receive early childhood education.
The education and well-being of the ever-growing populace have been neglected for decades in Nigeria. Education should be the priority of every country, especially for an ever-growing population like Nigeria. Nigeria is predicted to have a 200% rise in population by the year 2050. It has never been more pressing to equip the next generation with the basic literacy skills of reading and writing. It has become a necessity for us to look beyond white-collar and government jobs and start building lifelong and generational skills. There is a need for heavy investment in both the formal and informal educational sectors to create opportunities that will facilitate literacy development in the country. Illmi Children’s fund aims to improve the literacy level in Nigeria. The core mandate of Illmi Children’s Fund is for literacy to be prioritized amongst children that are least likely to receive any form of formal education. ICF targets the most impoverished communities and the most underprivileged kids within our communities. The success of ICF is impending on the number of children that will have access to better education, within their environments and gain lifelong knowledge. Through our scholarship program, children from across Nigeria will be selected and enrolled in schools within their location where they can obtain primary education. Our scholarship program covers their tuition and fees for the 6 years of their primary education. ICF aims to educate 2200 students, at first instance, from across Nigeria for the 2021/2022 academic year, and geometrically grow annually with your support and donations. With Illmi Children’s Fund the mission is clear; give young Nigerians a good head start to life. Children are the future; their education should be our priority. To maximize the benefits of educating our children, please let us take a collective approach and contribute towards the education of our younger ones and the progress of our country at Illmi Children’s Fund. We are soliciting your kind and generous support towards achieving this noble goal by way of donating funds so that we can together play a part in improving literacy levels and touching the lives of many young Nigerians.
